The minimum age also depends on the state you're living in. For example, in California, you must be older than 15 and 1/2 years. But in Michigan, a teen with the minimum age of 14 years and 8 months can secure a permit if they have permission from a legal guardian. In Colorado, 15-year-olds can gain Learner's Permit, for those who are older than 16 but younger than 17 can have Restricted License and at the age of 17 one can get himself/herself a Full License for driving vehicles. After finishing the driver's Ed, there are some mandatory conditions you must complete before applying for the license. If your age is under 16 and 1/2 years, you'll need to have 6-hours behind the wheel training with a professional driver. If you don't have any recognized drivers Ed school within 30 miles of your house, then you'll need to have 12 hours behind the wheel training with your parent or a legal guardian. Furthermore, if you are under 18 years old, you must have held the instruction permit for at least 12 months and complete 50 hours of driving practice.
